ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) A New York State Police trooper shot a man wanted on a parole absconder warrant after troopers say he entered a Fairbanks Street home, held a woman against her will with a butcher knife and then made an aggressive movement toward officers while holding the knife.
US Marshal Charles Salina said the shooting happened at around 11:15 a.m. He says a task force made up of the Marshals Office, Monroe County Sheriffs Office, State Police, and Rochester Police responded to 107 Fairbanks Street to arrest the man on a warrant.
State Police say the man entered the adjoining residence at 105 Fairbanks Street and held the woman who lived there against her will with a large butcher knife before hiding in the basement.

According to Indiana State Police Cantu allegedly kidnapped his four-year-old son from a Florida daycare in December of last year.
The US Marshal Fugitive Task Force received a tip that Cantu may be in Bicknell.
Police started watching a home at 715 Maple Street in Bicknell, where they saw the missing child with a woman in the backyard. The child was taken into protective custody.
Cantu wasn t at the home at the time. They were able to find him at another house on 3rd Street in Bicknell.

KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Indiana State Police and the US Marshal Fugitive Task Force arrested a 26-year-old Florida father after allegedly kidnapping his 4-year-old son from a Florida daycare in December 2020 and then fleeing the state, ISP reported Friday.
The father, Andres Cantu, 26, of Mount, Fla. had a nation-wide extradition warrant for kidnapping. ISP and the Task Force received information Friday morning that Cantu was possibly in Bicknell with his son.
They conducted a surveillance operation on a residence located at 715 Maple St. in Bicknell and observed an adult female in the backyard with the missing boy. Cantu was not located at the residence, but the child was taken into protective custody. Officers moved their surveillance to another residence located on Third St. in Bicknell where Cantu was located and arrested without incident. Cantu was taken to the Knox County Jail where he is currently being held on bond.
