Several police officers in Lynn, Massachusetts are on administrative leave and under investigation over allegations of inappropriate conduct.

The department recently learned of the allegations from another law enforcement agency, according to a release from the city s two deputy police chiefs and a confidential assistant.
An investigation was opened immediately and is now underway. The Lynn Police Department Professional Standards Division is conducting the investigation.

Seven Lynn police officers are being investigated for allegations of off-duty drug use and making racist statements, the Lynn Item reports.
According to the newspaper, the investigation was initiated after one of the officers was arrested in Salem on a domestic violence warrant in response to texts he sent to the alleged victim. While those charges were dropped, a review of the officer’s text messages and emails for the investigation revealed a group chat with six other officers in which they talked about use of cocaine and steroids.
The officers also allegedly used racial slurs and described violence against Black people, according to the Item.

LYNN, Mass. (AP) - Several police officers in Lynn have been placed on administrative leave as authorities investigate allegations of possible drug use and inappropriate language in a private text conversation between two officers.
The investigation was confirmed in a statement released Thursday night by the police department.
“The Lynn Police Department recently received information from another law enforcement agency regarding allegations of inappropriate conduct by several officers,” the statement said. “These officers were placed on administrative leave and an investigation was immediately opened.”

Seven Lynn police officers have been placed on leave while the department investigates reports of possible drug use and inappropriate text messages, authorities said Friday.
The department confirmed the investigation in a statement released Thursday night. None of the officers involved have been identified.
