Chigwell man jailed for 24 years for killing Jamie Webb in Hamerton Road, Northfleet  |  Updated: 16:18, 15 January 2021 The brutal killer who was trapped when he ditched his victim s mobile phone, was jailed for life today. Heartless Harry Harris, 29, stabbed dad-of-one Jamie Webb, 44, seven times after the two fell out over a £2,000 cocaine debt. Harry Harris has been sentenced to life in prison But after leaving Mr Webb to die at his home in Northfleet, he fled with two mobile phones. A jury at Maidstone Crown Court heard that one of Mr Webb s phones has never been found But the second was casually tossed from Harris car as he fled the scene back to his home in Essex.

He gave a false account claiming that he was assaulted and tied to a chair by two other unknown men, before he lost consciousness. During the early investigation, Harris told officers he woke up to find only Mr Webb in the room and claimed he tried to run away. He said he was acting in self-defence when he got into an altercation with Mr Webb, who was left seriously injured when Harris fled the flat. At court, Harris admitted large parts of his initial account were a lie and retracted his claims about the two other men.  He stated in court that he knew Mr Webb was dead when he left and he made a misleading call to the emergency services.

A man has been given a life-sentence after he tried to claim self-defence following the fatal stabbing of a man in his Northfleet flat. Despite his claims of self-defence, a jury found Harry Harris guilty of the murder of 44-year-old James Webb following a six-week trial at Maidstone Crown Court which concluded on Monday (January 11). He was sentenced at the same court on Friday, January 15 and must serve a minimum of 25 years before being considered for parole. Mr Harris, 29, of, Chigwell, Essex, was arrested on 4 February 2020 after officers were called to a flat in Hammerton Road at 2.46am. Upon arriving at the property, along with South East Coast Ambulance Service, Mr Webb was found seriously injured and later declared deceased at the scene. He had injuries consistent with stab wounds.

Wilfred Jacob, 43, was given a life sentence at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday for the murder of his wife Linda Vilika. Judge Patricia Lynch said not only did Jacob kill his wife but he attempted to besmirch her character further during the trial. She said: “Evidence shows she was a lady of impeccable character. “Not only did you kill your wife that day but you have besmirched her character by saying she attacked you first. “Having considered all the matters I sentence you to life with a minimum of 18 years served.”
