ST. PETERSBURG, FL The St. Petersburg Police Department and its law enforcement agency partners in Pinellas County collected 857 pounds of medication Saturday during the Operation Medicine Cabinet, according to a news release.
Operation Medicine Cabinet is a national day when law enforcement agencies set up locations for the public to properly dispose of medications, prevent children from accidental ingestion, prevent medicines from being thrown out into waterways, and to teach the public about prescription drug abuse.
St. Pete police had a drop-off location at Johns Hopkins All Children s Hospital, C Lot, Fifth Street South and Eight Avenue South, St. Petersburg. The event lasted until 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
