Chippewa County vaccination clinic on Friday

SAULT STE. MARIE There will be a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the end of the week for eligible residents that have not yet received their vaccine.
The clinic will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday at Lake Superior State University’s Norris Center, located at 1000 Meridian St. in the Sault. This clinic is for any Chippewa County resident in any of the current phases:
EMS providers and medical first responders
Healthcare workers
First responders including firefighters, police and other law enforcement
School and childcare staff, including pre-K through high school
Food pantry to be hosted for Chippewa County residents

CHIPPEWA COUNTY The United Way of the Eastern Upper Peninsula will be hosting a drive-thru mobile pantry for Chippewa County residents.
The pantry will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the New Horizons Church of the Nazarene, located at 401 M-129 in Pickford. Volunteers will place food items in the trunks of cars. Those who are interested in this pantry must have room in their trunk for the items as volunteers will not make room. Remain parked while receiving food until a volunteer releases you. Cars are also not to block driveways.

As of Wednesday, data from the State of Michigan website showed that there have been 709 cumulative cases and 1,010 cumulative probables of COVID-19 in Chippewa County.
There have been 25 deaths relating to the virus.
On Tuesday, it was reported by the Chippewa County Health Department that 1,657 people have recovered.
Compared to last week’s totals, there had been 707 confirmed cases, 1,011 probable cases and 25 deaths due to COVID-19 in Chippewa County. Per the health department, there had been 1,594 people who have recovered from the virus.
War Memorial Hospital and Sugar Island Emergency Medical Services are bringing a COVID-19 vaccination clinic to Sugar Island from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Sugar Island Town hall. Vaccinations will be given by appointment only to individuals over the age of 65 and a resident of Chippewa County. To schedule an appointment, call (906) 253-1003.
