DUNNELLON, Fla. (WCJB) - Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a deadly crash that happened in Marion County Thursday night.
A 38-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman from Weirsdale were killed when a pickup truck hit the motorcycle they were riding head-on while trying to pass traffic on State Road 200 in Dunnellon near Ross Prairie State Park.
The driver of the pickup was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
It started with domestic violence
It all started when a woman and Bishop were arguing and he forced her into a vehicle. While driving, the victim said, Bishop grabbed her hair and slapped her in the face, according to the sheriff s office.
She said the vehicle stopped on a dirt road. She managed to get out, but Bishop choked her. Deputies said the woman had multiple bruises and scratches on her body.
Sheriff s officials, including the agency helicopter, searched for Bishop, who was driving an older model Chevy pickup truck. The vehicle was first spotted southbound on Southwest 60th Avenue. The vehicle then turned westbound on West State Road 40.
