DUNNELLON, Fla. (WCJB) - Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a deadly crash that happened in Marion County Thursday night. A 38-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman from Weirsdale were killed when a pickup truck hit the motorcycle they were riding head-on while trying to pass traffic on State Road 200 in Dunnellon near Ross Prairie State Park. The driver of the pickup was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

The Weirsdale couple, 38 and 31 respectively, were traveling south on State Road 200, according to a report. At 9:10 p.m., a pickup truck, which was headed north, entered the southbound lane to pass traffic. The truck collided with the motorcycle at a high rate of speed, killing both riders immediately, according to the report. The driver of the truck, a 56-year-old man from Hernando, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Sheriff s officials, including the agency helicopter, searched for Bishop, who was driving an older model Chevy pickup truck. The vehicle was first spotted southbound on Southwest 60th Avenue. The vehicle then turned westbound on West State Road 40.
