Dominion employee sues Trump campaign, Giuliani, Powell, OANN, Newsmax for defamation
A Dominion Voting Systems employee is suing the Trump campaign, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell as well as news networks OANN and Newsmax over alleged defamation, Daily Mail reports.
Eric Coomer, director of product strategy and security for the company, filed the lawsuit in Denver, Colorado on Tuesday.
“Today I have filed a lawsuit in Colorado in an effort to unwind as much of the damage as possible done to me, my family, my life, and my livelihood as a result of the numerous false public statements that I was somehow responsible for ‘rigging’ the 2020 presidential election,” he said.
More than a month ago, Eric Coomer went into hiding.
The voting conspiracy theories that have led millions of Republicans to feel as though the election was stolen from them, which are still spreading, have also led to calls for Coomer s head.
Coomer oversees product strategy and security for Dominion Voting Systems, the Denver-based company that has suddenly found itself at the center of many of President Trump s false claims about November s election, spread by allies and pro-Trump media.
Some of Trump s supporters have focused on Coomer as the supposed evil mastermind. I actually am in fear for my safety, Coomer said recently, speaking by video call from an undisclosed location to Colorado Public Radio. I m in fear for my family s safety. These are real, tangible things coming out of these baseless accusations.
“Newsmax has found no evidence that either Dominion or Smartmatic owns the other or has any business association with each other,” Tabacco said. “We have no evidence that Dominion uses Smartmatic’s software or vice versa. No evidence has been offered that Dominion or Smartmatic use software or reprogram software that manipulated votes in the 2020 election.”
Tabacco also noted that Smartmatic’s software was only used in Los Angeles during the 2020 election, and not in the battleground states where the alleged fraud occurred.

Georgia Secretary of State Voices Support for GOP Push to End No-Excuse Absentee Voting

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said Wednesday that he supports Republican efforts to overturn a 15-year state law allowing no-excuse absentee voting.
During an over three-hour virtual hearing on election security before the Georgia state House Governmental Affairs Committee, Raffensperger claimed that no-excuse absentee voting makes no sense while paired with current voting practices in the state. This cycle has shown, we need to move to an excuse-based system for absentee voting, Raffensperger said. The no-excuses system voted into law in 2005 - long before most of you, if not all of you, long before I was in the General Assembly - it makes no sense when we have three weeks of in-person, early voting available. It opens the door to potential illegal voting.
