Secretary of the national caretaker committee of the party, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, on Tuesday, said the party resolved there should be no further increase in the pump price of fuel.
Our correspondents gathered from impeccable sources that the decision not to immediately increase the fuel pump price was among other things reached during a meeting of the tripartite committee headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Daily Trust learnt that the meeting of the tripartite committee, which consisted of the top echelons of the legislature, executive and the APC, took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, and was chaired by Vice President Osinbajo, three weeks ago.

St John’s – Former prime minister Sir Lester Bird is recovering at hospital after having his lower leg amputated on Tuesday, the state-owned ABS Radio and Television has reported.
It said that Sir Lester, a National Hero, had the surgery following the recommendation of his doctor after he had been hospitalised earlier this month with a toe infection.
“His family says he was in good spirits going into surgery and are praying for a swift recovery. His family appreciates the outpouring of support and best wishes for Sir Lester,” ABS said on its website. It did not state which leg had been amputated.

A few days before the second presidential debate in 2016,
The WASHINGTON POST published a video and article featuring a rather disgusting conversation about women between Donald Trump and television host, Billy Bush. In that infamous
‘old boys talk,’ Trump described his interest in a married woman, then waxed lewd about kissing another woman that he and Bush were about to meet. Said the Donald,
“I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything . . .Grab em by the P . You can do anything.” Sigh! Talk about Neanderthal man! In this supposed modern age of enlightenment, here was a presidential candidate, in the most advanced and enlightened country in the world, proposing what amounted to an assault, a sexual assault of a woman.

It is with a heavy heart, coupled with a firm resolve, that we note the dastardly eruption of La Soufriere volcano in neighbouring St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The eruption began at 8:41 this past Friday, and so far, there has only been one reported fatality. May the soul of the departed rest in peace, and of course, may the St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) people find some measure of comfort in their hour of grief.
Theirs will be a rough road and an uncertain future. Volcanoes can be extremely whimsical and capricious, and with this eruption happening right smack in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, it is a rather unkind cut. Our brothers and sisters in SVG will need all the help that they can get, and it is heartening to see the magnanimous way in which the governments and people of the region have stepped up in a big way to assistt.
