Guwahati, May 3 : Following is the final party position in the 126-member Assam assembly for which elections were held in three phases - March 27, April 1 and April 6.
The counting of votes which began on Sunday morning (8 a.m.) continued early on Monday and the delay in declaring the result was caused due to maintenance of various Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

GUWAHATI: United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) president and chief executive member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Pramod Boro said he wants a dynamic leader in the position of Assam chief minister.
“I have been saying that we want a dynamic leader as CM. Assam has many problems.A dynamic leader is needed to solve these problems,” Boro said on Monday after BJP-led alliance swept Asam assembly elections.
He said decision on the next CM will be taken by the BJP.
“BJP will decide on CM’s post. BJP is our big brother. They have high command as BJP is a national party. We will not interfere on it,” Boro added.
One reserved unused Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) was found inside a trunk at a counting centre in Assam s Hailakandi on Saturday evening, a day before the counting of polls are scheduled to begin. As per a statement, District Election Officer Megh Nidhi Dahal along with returning officers rushed to the spot where the EVM was detected and made an inquiry into it. The contesting candidates also reached the spot. On being investigated, it was found that the unused EVM inside a trunk that found its way inadvertently to the counting venue was a reserved one and there were no votes polled therein, the statement said, adding that it was open before the contesting candidates, who were satisfied with the results.
