Sofia Lucero Named Asst. Director of Communications ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Sofia Lucero, a graduate of the Anderson School of Management at UNM, has been hired as Assistant Director of Communications and will oversee publicity for Lobo Women’s Soccer, Baseball, Track and Field and Cross Country.  She started in her new position on February 1. Lucero is no stranger to UNM Athletics, working previously as a top intern in the office from 2017-19, working with women’s soccer, baseball and the Lobo basketball programs.  The native of Pojoaque, New Mexico, Lucero comes back to the Lobos after working for a year with USA Basketball, where she worked on various promotional and social justice campaigns.  She also handled content creation for various USA Basketball social channels as well as USABasketball.com.

Team USA planning pre-Olympic bubble in Vegas with Spain, Australia

Carl Court / Getty Images Sport / Getty USA Basketball has begun preparations to hold a pre-Olympic bubble in Las Vegas that will include a training camp as well as exhibition games against Spain and Australia, managing director Jerry Colangelo told ESPN s Brian Windhorst. The goal is to limit the risk of exposure to COVID-19 for players from the three nations participating in the Olympics prior to departing for Tokyo. USA Basketball is tentatively aiming to start training camp during the first week of July, with the NBA playoffs currently scheduled to take place from May 22 to July 22. On the surface it makes a lot of sense, Colangelo told ESPN. We have to be flexible.
