Lindenwood captured its first NCAA championship in program history on Sunday.
Perhaps it was only fitting.
As a final act to a 2021 Division II women’s lacrosse season that was marked by continuous COVID-19 disruptions, including postponed games, constant rescheduling, limited non-conference competition and no-contest decisions, the NCAA crowned a first-time champion on Sunday.
Second-ranked Lindenwood outlasted No. 5 Queens 14-12 to claim its first title and become just the second team in the 20-year history of the Division II women’s championship from outside of New York, Massachusetts or Pennsylvania to hoist the champion’s trophy.

The IMLCA announced its 2021 Hall of Fame class.
Thomas Leanos, William “Dinty” Moore and Robert Shillinglaw will be inducted in July along with the Class of 2020 Bruce Allison, Roy Rostan, Dom Starsia and Don Zimmerman.

Forty-three years ago, this magazine debuted as the first feature publication devoted exclusively to lacrosse. The periodical was produced by the Lacrosse Foundation, which 20 years later was one of eight organizations that merged to form what was then US Lacrosse and is now USA Lacrosse.
These walls in Sparks, Maryland and these pages in your hands possess an institutional memory of the sport unlike anything you’ll find in the lacrosse world. There’s a new logo on the facade and a new masthead on the cover. But rebranding in some ways has resulted in us reinforcing who we are as a national governing body that unites the lacrosse community and as a magazine that since 1978 has inspired generations of lacrosse families to love this great game and leave it better for the next.
