The Maine Nordiques showed some rust Friday night and dropped a 4-1 decision to the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks in a NAHL East Division contest at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston.
The Nordiques were coming off a 10-day layoff since their last game.
Maine coach Nolan Howe said he expects a better performance Saturday against the Hat Tricks.
“It starts with poor line changes and goes to our special teams,” Howe said. “It’s a few games in a row now that we have given up a goal on our (penalty kill), that’s unacceptable. At the end of the day we have to be better from top-to-bottom. (Tonight) was a case of a group of young men having to learn a tough lesson and we certainly expect them to respond tomorrow.”

The Cedar Valley area has a long, rich history with the sport of hockey. It really dates all the way back to a legion team that played in Waterloo in the late 1920 s. Jumping ahead a few decades, the Waterloo Black Hawks and the United States Hockey League came to town in 1962. At that point, they were a semi-professional team, playing at McElroy Auditorium. Wausau (OnFocus) – The Wausau RiverWolves took on the Oregon Tradesmen Friday night at Marathon Park Ice Arena in a NA3HL Central Division contest. Heading into the game Wausau held a 1-2 record in the season series, but it was the first matchup between the two teams since November 28

th, which saw the RiverWolves acquire six players via trade and free agency Friday night’s game showed what the new additions can do.
One of those new acquisitions in forward Griffin Lehet got the RiverWolves on the scoreboard first at 7:04 of the opening frame. Lehet’s goal was assisted by Trey Bociek and Brady Rothe. The Maine Nordiques frustrated the Maryland Black Bears with relentless puck pressure Monday afternoon.
The Nordiques defeated the Black Bears 4-1 in a North American Hockey League East Division contest at the Ice World Arena in Edgewood, Maryland.
“Everything, in terms of momentum and sustained momentum, was rooted from our forecheck,” Maine Nordiques associate head coach Matt Pinchevsky said. “Our forecheck was fabulous, and it started in one big-time wave from the Cannon Green, Makem Demers and Patrick Schmiedlin line. It followed right down the lineup.”
Luke Antonacci opened the scoring for the Nordiques (17-9-1, 35 points), scoring the only goal of the first period with seven minutes remaining. The goal was set up by James Philpott and Jack Strauss.

DETROIT The Detroit Red Wings today reassigned forward Chase Pearson and defensemen Dennis Cholowski and Gustav Lindstrom from the team s taxi squad to the American Hockey League s Grand Rapids Griffins.
Pearson, 23, is entering his second professional campaign after spending the 2019-20 season with the Griffins, recording 22 points (8-14-22) and 17 penalty minutes in 59 games. He also skated in 10 games with Grand Rapids after he turned pro following his junior season at the University of Maine in 2018-19, chipping in two points (2-0-2) and two penalty minutes for a total of 24 points (10-14-24) and 19 penalty minutes in 69 career AHL contests.
