Blyton Ice Cream is coming to Lincoln Over 70 flavours to try, and other desserts too! Blyton Ice Cream is opening a shop on Lincoln High Street, selling over 70 flavours of ice creams and other desserts including waffles. A family-run ice cream business serving over 70 flavours, including some that are award-winning, will open its first branch in Lincoln next week. Blyton Ice Cream was established by Warwick and Mary Cook in 1985 when the couple opened a shop in Blyton near Gainsborough. Warwick sadly passed away in 2017, but the family has since launched two further shops – Brigg in 2018 and Scunthorpe in 2019. Mary will cut cut the ribbon to officially open the new Lincoln branch on Friday, May 28, which is located next to Carousel in the unit formerly occupied by HW Franklin.

Ambulance service moving into new training centre in Lincoln Investing in the staff of the future East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) has let space for a new education and training centre in Lincoln. EMAS’ education team started moving into Oak House on Oakwood Road, off Doddington Road in Lincoln, on May 14. The move will see them relocate from their Education Centre on Outer Circle Road, which they have occupied for nearly 25 years. The first course for trainee ambulance technicians at the new facility starts on Monday, May 24. There will be an overlap as the education programme is still ongoing at the Outer Circle Road site, but it is hoped that the move will be fully completed by the end of June.

Wedding plans were called to a grinding halt in March 2020 when the country entered coronavirus lockdown, and as restrictions continue to ease, more and more bookings are being made for 2021. One of the lucky couples were Luke Hinojosa and Abi Morgan, who had to wait just over two years for their big day at the White Hart Hotel on May 17, the very day lockdown restrictions eased.

The independent gaming bar on Corporation Street in Lincoln will open on Tuesday, May 19 at 4pm, and there are plenty of changes to be aware of. A refurb has allowed for the venue to host live music, with DJs and bands booked from June to September, including the Sleaford Mods’ Simon Parfrement.

The government’s COVID-19 dashboard recorded 16 new cases in Lincolnshire, two in North East Lincolnshire, but -1 in North Lincolnshire. Fluctuations in data can occur for a variety of reasons including corrected data, misdiagnoses or wrong addresses. NHS England has also reported no new local deaths across Greater Lincolnshire’s hospitals, which currently stand at 1,306 since the pandemic started. On Wednesday, national cases increased by 2,696 to 4,452,527, deaths rose by three to 127,694, with 70% of UK adults have now had their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
