China makes last ditch attempt to tide over Nepal crisis

New Delhi, Dec 27: A high-level team of the Communist Party officials will travel to Kathmandu to stop the Nepal Communist Party from splitting. The move comes after Ambassador Hou Yanqi failed to stop the split in the NCP.
The team being sent by Chinese president, Xi Jinping is led by Guo Yechau, vice minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The team will land in Kathmandu today. The team will meet with key players in Nepal and will try to patch matters between the warring factions.

New Delhi, Dec 25: India has said that the decision by K P Oli to dissolve Parliament is Nepal s internal affair.
We have noted the recent political developments in Nepal. These are internal matters for Nepal to decide as per its democratic process, Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Anurag Srivastava said.

While the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) heads for a split, official sources tell OneIndia that this will not come in the way of the developmental works with Nepal. There has been a thaw in ties with Nepal recently and the source also said that the bi-lateral will continue with Nepal.

New Delhi, Dec 24: China is looking to make one last attempt to keep the warring Nepal Communist Party leaders together.
After meeting with President Bidya Devi, Bhandari, Chinese ambassador Hou Yanqi is also said to have met with Prime Minister, K P Oli s rival, P K Dahal aka Prachanda, who is the co-chair of the ruling Nepal Communist Party.
The meeting with Bhandari took place two days after the President signed off on Prime Minister K P Oli Sharma s recommendation to dissolve Parliament. Oli s decision to dissolve Parliament would given him a smooth run up to the elections and he would also split the Nepal Communist Party.

As the political crisis in Nepal intensifies, the Chinese ambassador in Kathmandu, Hou Yanqi, has set tongues wagging that China could be making one final attempt to keep the flock of warring Communist leaders together. The ambassador met Nepal president B D Bhandari, who had lost no time in approving PM K P Oli s recommendation to dissolve Parliament, Tuesday.
While ToI was unable to independently confirm it from any official authority, the ambassador, according to a source in Kathmandu, also met P K Dahal Prachanda, the co-chair of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and one of the chief protagonists in the political drama playing out in Nepal.
