Nurses, social workers in Oman provided training to ease COVID fears of children By: Times News Service Lana Al Wreikat Muscat: Nurses, social workers, and school counsellors have been provided mental health training to help ease the worries around COVID-19 that children who come to them will have. The training, which will also help those who deal with adolescents and adults, is being provided by UNICEF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Social Development. 60 workers will be provided these tools during the three-month course. At the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, Oman’s Ministry of Health quickly established a toll-free national mental health hotline, with the aim of making mental health support easily accessible to all.

The ‘COVID cargolifts’ will be rolled out on routes to India for the next 15 days, in cooperation with Oman’s Foreign Ministry and the Indian community in Oman, and will guarantee 10 tons of free cargo space on several Indian routes to assist humanitarian organizations and agencies in the transport of essential medical equipment and supplies.

Oman: Grade 12 students to get COVID-19 vaccine within 2 weeks

Muscat: Oman’s Directorate General Health Services (DGHS) responsible for the Governorate of Muscat has announced that the start of COVID-19 vaccination will begin soon for 12th grade students. As per the directive of Supreme Committee, grade 12 students have been included in the upcoming phase of immunization programme as they have to appear for public examination scheduled to happen in the coming months. Oman’s Ministry of Health earlier announced on the postponement of administration of the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine until June this year. MoH clarified that the postponement was due to the directives of Oman’s Supreme Committee to prioritise vaccination of twelfth grade students before their final exam date.

Oman s sultan reiterates priority of vaccinating everyone in the society

Muscat: Oman’s Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq on the occasion of greeting the citizens and residents, reaffirmed the government’s priority of pressing ahead with its efforts to provide safe vaccines to all individuals of the society. Last week Oman’s Ministry of Health had announced about the next phase of vaccination in Oman that will involve citizens and residents above 45 years of age as well as school-final students who have to appear for board examinations. Many private companies had started registering for providing vaccination for its staff and their dependent members as part of government’s efforts to expand the vaccination drive. To facilitate inoculation for school final students, the MoH has even put off the second-dose vaccination date for Pfizer shots.
