Janet Beth Gallup
Janet Beth Gallup, 70, of Chambersburg, Pa., passed away on May 9, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born to parents Paul L. Robb and Claire Harris Robb, on Jan. 1, 1951 in Lock Haven. Janet holds the distinguished title of being the first female baby born on New Year’s Day in 1951.
She graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1968 and the Erie school districts LPN program in 1982. She then went on to study nursing at Edinboro University and graduated with an RN, BSN in 2000. She was a past member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Nancy L. (Beach) Shope
Nancy L. (Beach) Shope, 66, of Mill Hall passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 at her residence.
Born October 2, 1954 in Lock Haven she was a daughter of the late Raymond M. and Geraldine (Hill) Beach.
Nancy was married to Clair L. Shope for twenty-one years (together for over 30) who survives.
She worked at Walmart, Fashion Bug and was a former manager at Big Wrangler Steak House in Mill Hall.
Nancy attended Hillview Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed hunting and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband; three sons, Leroy T. Young, Jr. of Lock Haven, Raymond L. (Nadira) Young of Scarsdale, NY and David R. Young of Lock Haven and two daughters, T. Nicole Young and Mariah R. Shope of Mill Hall.
Don Richard Flanigan, 78, of Avis, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 at his home.
Don was born May 24, 1942 at the old Teah Hospital in Lock Haven to the late Alpheus Flanigan and the late Dorothy Flanigan.
Don graduated from Bald Eagle Nittany High School in 1962. He served in the Army from 1964 to 1967 where he was an engineer equipment repairman and served in Alaska as well as Greenland. While serving in the Army, Don received the good conduct medal, the national defense service medal, and the expert rifle medal.
Don was a member of the Labelle Vallee Lodge 232 in Jersey Shore and a member of the Altoona, Pa., Shriner’s.

The Rest Haven Community Cemetery is located off Big Plum Run Road in Dunnstable Township features a chapel for services and an American Flag stands proud, honoring the many veterans buried there.

LOCK HAVEN A local family has taken ownership of Rest Haven Community Cemetery, to create a legacy for the cemetery and themselves.
Carl Brungard Jr. and his wife, Cindy, are the new owners of Rest Haven along with their children– Brandon, Nicole, and Amanda. Together, they are operating a family-owned business in the cemetery and funeral service realm.
