GALION - A 4-year-old Galion boy died Tuesday night after shooting himself in the face, according to Galion Police Chief Marc Rodriguez.
Police officers were called to Avita Health System Galion Hospital at 8:38 p.m. Tuesday after the child had been brought into the emergency room with a gunshot wound.
When officers responded, they learned the 4-year-old boy had sustained a single gunshot wound to the face from a small caliber semi-auto pistol, Rodriguez said in a news release.
The child was later transported by Medflight, in critical condition, to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
The police department was notified later that night that the child succumbed to his injuries while in flight and had died at 11:22 p.m. Tuesday.

GALION, Ohio A 4-year-old boy in the Crawford County city of Galion died Tuesday after shooting himself in the face with a gun he found in his grandmother’s home, according to Galion Police Chief Marc Rodriguez.
Galion police officers were called to the Avita Health System hospital in Galion just before 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday after the boy’s father drove him there.

LANCASTER - For Laura Tabor and her family, this Mother s Day was a melancholy affair: instead of getting flowers from her son, Haylen, she was putting them on his grave.
Laura got some modicum of justice Friday as one of the four people charged in Haylen s death in January received a prison sentence.
Brandon McNally, 21, of Lancaster, was sentenced to a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 20-and-a-half years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony; a specification to count one alleging McNally had a firearm on him or near him during the committing of the first count; and one count of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.
Deputies went to Cody Osco’s home at 5387 Route 14 to arrest him on outstanding warrants for failure to appear, intimidation of a crime victim, public indecency, criminal damaging and trespass in a habitation, the sheriff’s office posted on its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.
According to a release by Chief Deputy Ralph Spidalieri, officers were granted entrance into the home and found Osco in the basement. Spidalieri did not say who allowed officers into the home. According to the sheriff s office, Osco had cautions attached to his warrant for drugs and drug abuse, escape, domestic violence and felonious assault. The sheriff s office said Osco pulled a knife and, after several commands to drop it, he refused. He then allegedly lunged at deputies causing one deputy to discharge his firearm, injuring Osco.
