RAVENNA, Ohio (AP) A man armed with a knife was shot and wounded by a sheriff s deputy in a northeastern Ohio home after he lunged at officers who were attempting to arrest him on outstanding warrants, authorities said.
The shooting occurred Wednesday morning in Ravenna, according to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. The deputies were granted permission to enter the home and soon found the man in the basement.
The man then pulled a knife and refused the deputies repeated commands to drop it, authorities said. He then lunged at the officers, prompting one deputy to fire.
Suspected illegal drugs seized at New Philadelphia residence

NEW PHILADELPHIA Law enforcement seized a large quantity of suspected illegal drugs Tuesday when they executed a search warrant at a residence on Fifth Street NW in New Philadelphia.
The search warrant was executed at 3:31 p.m. by detectives from the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, LEAD Drug Task Force and the New Philadelphia Police Special Response Team.
About two months ago, detectives with the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and the LEAD Drug Task Force began an investigation into drug trafficking, according to a press release from the sheriff s office.

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has identified a 34-year-old man who was shot dead on an East Cleveland street Saturday.
Deshaun Harrison of East Cleveland died from several gunshot wounds, according to the medical examiner. Police found him about 5 a.m. lying in the driveway of a Forest Hills Avenue home near Superior Road.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
