County Adds 124 COVID Cases; B-N Hospitals Nearly Full

Jenny Kane / AP Bloomington-Normal hospitals remain nearly full following another surge in COVID-related hospitalizations.  The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) reported Carle BroMenn Medical Center and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center are 96% full, including 96% of intensive care beds in use. The two hospitals have 48 COVID patients under their care. That s up from 31 reported on Friday. The McLean County Health Department announced 124 new coronavirus cases Monday. The county reported 124 new coronavirus cases since Friday to bring its total of confirmed and probable cases to 17,646.

Emily Bollinger / WGLT UPDATED 4:10 P.M. | McLean County has set a new record for COVID hospitalizations for the third consecutive day, with the county surpassing 17,000 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic. The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) reported 32 new confirmed and probable coronavirus cases on Thursday from a batch of about 1,500 tests recorded overnight. The McLean County Health Department announced 32 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday. Credit McLean County Health Department The number of active cases dropped, as 81 people completed their time in quarantine since Wednesday. Currently 558 people are isolating at home. The county reported 16,197 people have been released from isolation and are considered recovered.

McLean County Reports 2 More COVID Deaths, Record Hospitalizations

Eric Stock / WGLT UPDATED 2:45 P.M. | McLean County health officials reported two more COVID-related deaths on Wednesday while the county’s total of COVID-19 hospitalizations reached a new record of 56. The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) announced 91 new and confirmed coronavirus cases from a batch of about 1,900 tests conducted since Tuesday. The county s total coronavirus caseload has reached 16,997. The McLean County Health Department reported 91 coronavirus cases and two deaths on Wednesday. Credit McLean County Health Department The health department said two women are the latest fatalities: one was in her 60s, and one was in her 70s. Neither was associated with long-term care. That brings McLean County s COVID death toll to 216.

Children Drive Spike In McLean County COVID Cases

Record hospitalizations A record 45 McLean County residents are hospitalized with COVID-19. All but 2% of Bloomington-Normal hospital beds are full, while 88% of intensive care beds are occupied. Carle BroMenn Medical Center and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center have 43 COVID patients under their care. MCHD said 545 people are isolating at home and 119 people have recovered in the last 24 hours. The count of those who have been released from quarantine is 15,360. McLean County’s seven-day testing positivity rate stands at 5.5%. That’s up slightly from Thursday and close to the cumulative rate of 5.6%, based on more than 288,900 tests conducted since the start of the pandemic.
