Man giving away furniture is struck, killed by driver who came to pick it up, authorities say

A 69-year-old Manchester man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver who came to his house to pick up free furniture on Tuesday, authorities said.
Kevin Noonan, of Manchester, was arrested later in Lacey and charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement Wednesday.
The man he hit Jack Gotfried was flown to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune where he was pronounced dead. Gotfried and Noonan didn’t know each other, a prosecutor’s office spokesman said.

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) A man who was giving away some furniture was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver who came to his house to pick it up, authorities said.
The accident in Manchester occurred around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, when 62-year-old township resident Kevin Noonan arrived at the home of 69-year-old Jack Gotfried.
Noonan struck Gotfried as he backed up his car at a high rate of speed, pinning Gotfried between the rear of the vehicle and a truck parked in front of the house, prosecutors said. Noonan then drove away, leaving Gotfried lying in the road with severe injuries to his lower body.

JACKSON – A resident of Jackson died in a house fire the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has determined was accidental in nature.
On April 1 at 8:45 p.m., Jackson police officers and firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at a home on Lehigh Boulevard in a residential development off West County Line Road in the vicinity of Brewers Bridge Road.
The first responders were informed the fire involved people trapped in the home, according to a press release from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office
