The day also saw 1,206 patients getting discharged after recovery, leaving 13,736 active cases. Of the fresh cases, as many as 550 were from Bengaluru Urban district alone. Cumulatively 9,12,340 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 12,038 deaths and 8,86,547 discharges. Of the active cases, 217 are in Intensive Care Units of various hospitals, the bulletin said.

In the entire southern state, a male patient died of coronavirus in Bengaluru earlier in the day. He was 73, said the bulletin. The patient was admitted in a designated Covid hospital on November 30 with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) which led to fever, cough and breathlessness. He was also comorbid with hypertension.

Coronavirus death toll crosses 12K-mark in Karnataka   Sun, Dec 20 2020 08:08:33 AM Bengaluru, Dec 20 (IANS): With 15 patients succumbing to the Covid-19 on Friday, the death toll due to the pandemic in Karnataka has crossed the 12,000-mark and the state reported 1,152 new cases taking the total number of infections to 9,08,275, the health department said on Saturday. Bengaluru continues to be the epicentre of the virus spread, out of 1,152 fresh cases reported on Friday, 586 were from Bengaluru urban alone. As on Friday midnight (December 18), cumulatively 9,08,275 Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which include 12,004 deaths and 8,81,882 discharges, the health department said in its bulletin on Saturday.
