Delaware gas prices remain study - Delaware Business Now

As the summer driving season continues, local drivers pay between 70 cents and $1 more than one year ago. Some movement was seen among independents that sometimes well below the average price that is typically charged convenience store chains Wawa and Royal Farms. A Citgo station in Middletown posted a $2.84 a gallon price for regular. A BP and a Gulf station on Concord Pike in north Wilmington listed  $2.85, with the  Costco and Sam’s membership clubs were at $2.86. In its latest weekly report, the Energy Information Administration reported that gas demand grew slightly last week. In addition, total domestic gas stocks saw a slight decline. These trends have helped to stabilize price increases.

Delaware Business Now Gas prices in Delaware did not budge during the past week, Wilmington-based AAA Mid-Atlantic reported. In its latest weekly report, new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed gas demand jumped last week. The preliminary figure was the highest weekly gas demand estimate released by EIA since 1991 and only reflects one day of the Independence Day holiday weekend. The national gas price average has increased 40% since the start of the year, from $2.25 on January 1 to $3.14 today nationwide, eight cents higher than one month ago and 96 cents more than one year ago. The Costco and BJ’s membership clubs had among the lowest prices at $2.87 a gallon in Delaware. However, the clubs were edged out by Sun, an unbranded station in Middletown, which was charging $2.86 a gallon for regular.
