ALGOMA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A woman has been arrested following a death investigation of a 7 month old child.
On February 9th, Algoma Police responded to the 400 block of Fourth street in reference to a ‘young juvenile’ that had drowned.
The Algoma Police Department says Cheyanne Wierichs of Algoma was taken into custody Monday, February 15 on charges of Neglecting a Child resulting in death, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession a Controlled Substance â Methamphetamine.
She was booked into the Kewaunee County Jail without incident.
Algoma Police have not specified Wierichs’ relation with the 7 month old or released her age.
A New York State Trooper arrested two people after witnessing a man chasing and menacing another man with a baseball bat at a red light traffic light in the Village of Unadilla. According to Troop C, on January 26, a trooper who was out patrolling and was waiting at a red light at the intersection of Clifton St. and State Route 7, was eye witness to one man chasing another man, menacing the man being chased with a wooden baseball bat.

When the man with bat saw the trooper, he ran off. He was identified as 44-year-old Daniel J. Racquet of Unadilla and later apprehended in an unrelated incident and arrested for Assault in the second degree, a felony, and Menacing in the second degree.
A 33-year-old Lexington man is facing felony charges after execution of a search warrant in September.
The Lafayette County DTF and Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department executed a narcotics search warrant on September 14 at a residence on Business Highway 13.
Several items were seized from a pull-behind camper of Thomas Kopp’s including: approximately 1.2 grams of methamphetamine; two glass pipes; two cell phones; a semiautomatic firearm; a 30-round Glock 9mm magazine; a socket used as a marijuana pipe; .22-caliber long rifle shells; and a digital scale.
Kopp is charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.
