CATLETTSBURG Two Ashland people were hit on narcotics charges Jan. 5 after Ashland Police noticed their car weaving in the 1300 block of Blackburn Avenue, according to court records.
Jaime Nicole McConnell, 40, and James Derrick Black, 40, were charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The duo was stopped at 4:55 a.m. McConnell, the driver, swerved over the center line twice, per a criminal citation. McConnell told a patrol officer she had received a notification on her phone and looked down at it, records show.
After receiving permission to search the vehicle, records show the officer turned up a large sum of cash, scales, black baggies, needles and other goods associated with drug trafficking.

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ill. A multi-agency crackdown on drug distribution in the Effingham area has led to 10 arrests, police announced Monday.
The Effingham Police Department and Effingham County Sheriff s Office, with help from the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force, Illinois State Police, U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI Task Force, investigated several alleged dealers of heroin, methamphetamine and other controlled substances.
Information discovered during the investigation and other ongoing investigations led to four federal indictments and several other arrests in Effingham County:

Count 1: Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine and Heroin: 50 grams or more of methamphetamine; or 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine

PADUCAH, Ky. (KFVS) - On Jan. 9, troopers with Kentucky State Police (KSP), Post 1, and McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at a home on Woodward Street in Paducah at around 12:30 p.m.
The search warrant was part of a larger drug investigation in Livingston and McCracken County.
During a search, troopers and deputies found around 4 pounds of suspected crystal methamphetamine, liquid methamphetamine, around $34,000 in cash, and two handguns.

A Somerset man and his passenger were arrested Thursday night following a routine traffic stop conducted by the Pulaski County Sheriff s Office.
Eric Daniel Nicholas, 48, of Pond Meadow Road, has been charged with first-degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (2nd or greater offense, more than two grams of methamphetamine); Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (1st offense, heroin); No Insurance; and second-degree Persistent Felony Offender.
Autumn Decker, 22, of McKee, Kentucky, has been charged with Disorderly Conduct.
According to Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck, the charges stem from an incident that began just after 10 p.m. when Deputy Branson Patterson stopped a 2013 Dodge Challenger on Pond Meadow Road for a reported traffic violation.
