A polarizing lawsuit settlement by Oklahoma s top school board is no more, almost two months to the day that the board shocked the state by granting local tax revenue to charter schools with the agreement.
The Oklahoma State Board of Education voted unanimously Monday evening to rescind the settlement, pending certain stipulations.
The original agreement, approved March 25, resolved a lawsuit the Oklahoma Public Charter School Association filed in 2017. The charter school group sued for access to local tax dollars, a revenue source that supports school facilities.
The board voted then 4-3 to allow charter schools a share of local tax revenue. Until then, local dollars, such as property and motor vehicle taxes, were reserved for traditional school districts.

Twenty-two virus-related deaths were added to the provisional death count, and 89 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state since Monday, according to daily numbers released by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
A total of 452,377 Oklahomans have tested positive for COVID-19 and the state s provisional death count went up to 8,436, the state health department said on Tuesday.
The seven-day rolling average for new cases reported was 147 cases

As of Wednesday, 2,858,862 total vaccine doses have been administered and 1,591,345 prime doses have been given by the state. More than 1,248,900 Oklahomans have completed both inoculations.

The state s provisional death count was not updated and 458 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state since Friday, according to daily numbers released by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
A total of 452,288 Oklahomans have tested positive for COVID-19, the state health department said on Monday. The provisional death count number was 8,414 as reported on Friday, according to the situation update.
