KUALA LUMPUR (May 27): Malaysia will procure an additional 12.8 million doses of coronavirus vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, in a bid to ramp up its immunisation programme, said Science, Technology & Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also Coordinating Minister of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, on Thursday.
The procurement brings the total amount of doses secured from the US and German drugmakers to 44.8 million, enough to cover 70% of Malaysia s population, Khairy said.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today vowed to use the full force of the law on those spreading misinformation about the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines produced here by Pharmaniaga LifeScience Sdn Bhd.
Khairy who is also the coordinating minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) said the locally produced Sinovac is on par with those manufactured in China by Sinovac Biotech Ltd.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin refuted claims that the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine doses completed by Pharmaniaga Berhad with the fill and finish process were inferior to the Sinovac doses manufactured in Beijing.
He said it took 10 weeks to distribute the fill-and-finished vaccine doses from Pharmaniaga because it underwent.
