He added that the predictive system can also serve as a guide to premises owners to take proactive measures to curb possible virus transmission.
“The HIDE analysis is under the management of the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC). The Health Ministry will make predictions on premises that have the potential to become Covid-19 hotspots in the next seven days.
“Listing locations and premises is important and necessary, seeing that the number of new Covid-19 cases being reported daily are at a worrying level.
KUALA LUMPUR - Specific Malaysian malls, hypermarkets and grocery stores were identified as potential Covid-19 hot spots by the government on Saturday (May 8) in a list containing 150 locations which were pinpointed using a new big data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) system.
These locations, which were monitored over a seven-day period, were identified by name in the maiden list, and 80 per cent of them are in densely populated Kuala Lumpur and Selangor state.
They include popular shopping locations such as Bangsar Shopping Centre, Suria KLCC, Mid Valley Megamall, the Sogo complex and Selayang Mall, Malay Mail online news reported.

Lone Star: Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, recently much praised for his role in the provision of the AstraZeneca vaccine to opt-in volunteers, now says that there may be insufficient vaccine for the commencement of Phase 3 (involving individuals above 18 years old and non-citizens) of the National Covid-19 Immunisation programme.
The current batch of AstraZeneca vaccine was initially meant for those in Phase 2 (those aged 60 and above). This is rightly so, as the reports of blood clots after vaccination was lowest among those above 60 years of age.
PETALING JAYA: Individuals scheduled to be vaccinated against Covid-19 may travel beyond the permitted distance during the movement control order (MCO), said the National Security Council (NSC).
In a tweet on Friday (May 7), the NSC said those who had appointments to be vaccinated only need to show details of their appointment if asked by authorities at roadblocks. Travelling beyond the allowed distance during the MCO to go to vaccination centres is allowed. Please show details of your appointment or verification at MySejahtera if asked by authorities, it said.
At the same time, NSC also said the public may refer to vaksincovid.gov.my/panduan for a guide on how to register under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
In a statement, RSDH said anyone receiving the message should disregard it.
“There is no private registration for vaccination at any of the RSDH facilities.
“Members of the public are advised to not respond to any such messages offering private Covid-19 vaccination at our three hospitals, ” it said on Friday (May 7).
It also reminded the public that Covid-19 vaccination registration is only available through government-approved channels such as the MySejahtera application.
The message claimed that RSDH facility Subang Jaya Medical Centre was partnering with Pharmaniaga to offer quick access to the vaccine for corporate clients and interested individuals.
The message also claimed to offer the Sinovac vaccine and that the private vaccination registration drive was separate from the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
