ADUN SPEAKS | Give vaccination date and time upon registration
A
vaccine registration numbers are too low, the government should change the registration system.
Increasing certainty and choice upon registration will increase the registration rate and people who are currently in the queue will also know how long they are waiting for.
Instead of the current system where one merely registers their interest to receive the vaccination, people should be informed of the available vaccine centres near them, and be allowed to book their vaccination slot (date, time and place).
Khairy also said that those who register for the vaccines will be notified of their vaccine appointment 14 days before the appointment, and that we can accept or decline the proposed date and time for vaccination.

Vaccine hesitancy not helping 07 Apr 2021 / 12:19 H.
Vaccine scepticism and hesitancy should be rid of if we really care for our lives, our country and most importantly, our loved ones.
I read with dismay a newspaper report yesterday which stated the possibility of a fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic amid the increasing number of virus cases hitting several states.
If the recent statement by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pix) is anything to go by, the national immunisation programme seems to be going at a slow pace.
On March 28, Khairy stated that if registration for the second phase of the inoculation programme continued to be slow, the government would not wait for high-risk groups like the elderly, the disabled and those with comorbidities to sign up.
KUALA LUMPUR (April 7): Moody s said its 2021 GDP growth forecast of 6% for Malaysia could see further upside if the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme roll-out proceeds faster than anticipated.
Its sovereign risk group analyst Christian Fang said Moody s baseline assumption is in line with the government s announcements.
Malaysia has said it hopes to have between 70% and 80% of the nation s 32 million people vaccinated by 1Q2022 to achieve herd immunity.
“A more optimistic scenario [is to reach the target] by the end of this year,” Fang told reporters at Moody’s
Inside ASEAN Series’ Media Roundtable today.
“Vaccination or herd immunity is not something we have factored in for Malaysia or for most sovereigns. It is hard to predict the evolution of the virus and how that affects government’s response functions and also economic activity.

The Association of Private Hospital Malaysia (APHM) president Dr Kuljit Singh said that private hospitals are keen to work together with the Health Ministry to register public and private patients in private hospitals for the National Covid-19 Vaccine Immunisation Programme.
This came after Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said yesterday that the government would most likely reconsider the registration policy if the sign-up rate for Covid-19 vaccination is not satisfactory by July.
