He seemed frustrated. While Scott Morrison’s
international colleagues at the Leaders
Summit on Climate were boastful in what their countries
would do in decarbonising the global economy, Australia’s
feeble contribution was put on offer. Unable to meet his own
vaccination targets, the Australian prime minister has
decided to confine the word “target” in other areas of
policy to oblivion. Just as the term “climate change”
has been avoided in the bowels of Canberra bureaucracy,
meeting environmental objectives set in stone will be
shunned.

Canada bans flights from India and Pakistan
April 23, 2021
OTTAWA – Canada announced a 30-day ban on all flights from India and Pakistan effective Thursday as COVID-19 cases continue surging in the two countries, reported Xinhua news agency.
“Given the higher number of cases of COVID-19 detected in air passengers arriving in Canada from India and Pakistan, Transport Canada is issuing a notice to airmen, or NOTAM, to halt direct passenger air traffic from those countries,” said Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra at a joint press conference with other Canadian ministers on Thursday.

The minister said the ban is implemented as more passengers arrive in Canada with positive test results from those two South Asian countries.

The U.S. will commit to reducing economywide greenhouse gas emissions by 50% to 52% from 2005 levels by 2030 as part of its renewed membership in the global Paris Agreement on climate change, senior White House officials announced late April 21.
Biden will formally announce the pledge on April 22 at the start of a two-day White House climate summit attended virtually by dozens of world leaders, including President Xi Jinping of China, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Joe Biden will attend the G7 summit in Cornwall, U.K., and a NATO meeting in Brussels this June in during what will be his first foreign trip as U.S. president, the White House announced Friday.
âThis trip will highlight his commitment to restoring our alliances, revitalizing the trans-Atlantic relationship, and working in close cooperation with our allies and multilateral partners to address global challenges and better secure Americaâs interests,â White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement.
The trip signals a new phase of the coronavirus pandemic, which has largely halted international travel including among world leaders. Biden only last week hosted a foreign leader Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga for the first time at the White House, and the U.S. held this weekâs global climate summit virtually.
