+ February 17, 2021 DAVAO Region recorded its first three coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases infected with the B.1.1.7. variant, also known as the UK variant, of the Sars-CoV-2 on February 12, 2021. The new variant is known to be more transmissible.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), the three cases are a 10-year-old male, a 54-year-old female, and a 33-year-old male.
The Provincial Government of Davao de Oro confirmed on February 13 that two cases are from their province: the 33-year-old male is from Compostela and the 54-year-old female from New Bataan. The 33-year-old male tested positive for the Sars-CoV-2 on January 26. He is currently admitted at the Municipal Isolation Unit of Compostela and is currently on his 28th day of isolation. The 54-year-old female tested positive on January 26 and was placed in isolation at the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital-Montevista. On February 2, she was tested again and her results came out negative.
