B H County Health Dept Keeps 2nd Epidemiologist Position-Eliminates Two Others

B.H. County Health Dept. Keeps 2nd Epidemiologist Position-Eliminates Two Others The on-going skirmish between the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors and the county s health department seems to be coming to an end. In what started with what seemed like, at least one particular supervisor over-stepping his boundaries, ended with health department officials finding a way to keep a second epidemiologist position. As reported by the WCF Courier, despite having their budget cut by $99,000 (the exact amount that would have funded the position), the health department decided to eliminate two other positions, and keep the additional epidemiologist position. After a legal review, it was determined, that the Board of Supervisors can determine budgets but can not vote to eliminate specific positions. Only the health department holds that power.

Paoletta: Amazon Prime Cancels Justice Clarence Thomas Documentary During Black History Month

25 Feb 2021 Amazon showed it has its limits when it comes to its dedication to diversity and inclusion when it failed to continue streaming a critically acclaimed and popular documentary on the only black Supreme Court justice during Black History Month. Recently, Amazon Prime dropped Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words, an acclaimed and popular PBS documentary on Justice Clarence Thomas, making it unavailable to stream during Black History Month.  Thomas is our nation’s only black justice currently serving on the U.S. Supreme Court, and one would think that between Amazon’s claim to “building an inclusive culture” and the fact that it’s Black History Month, Amazon would want to stream this inspiring documentary on its platform.

Rodney Pelt Honored as a Black History Maker of Alabama

Rodney Pelt Rodney T. Pelt’s roots are grounded in West Alabama. He was born in Tuscaloosa, reared in one of the poorest counties in Alabama. Although miles away from greater opportunities, Rodney didn’t allow his surroundings to determine his direction. At an early age, he joined the military; this allowed him to expand his mind and discover the possibilities he knew existed as a young man. Ultimately, he served 16 years and is now a retired Army veteran. During his time with the military, he determined he wanted to share these lessons and serve on a smaller scale, having an individualized and thus greater impact. He aimed to return to his roots, West Alabama (Tuscaloosa), and fertilize the minds of the young men and women in his native community. In 2011, he founded Mind Changers, Inc., a non-profit organization established to motivate, empower, and encourage young men and women through mentoring and various resources.

Self-Employed Idahoans Qualify For PPP Funds

Self-Employed Idahoans Qualify For PPP Funds One of the things that makes the Treasure Valley so charming, in my opinion, is the amount of small local businesses that not only thrive here in town but that are so passionately supported by our community. Sure, we have our handful of big chain stores however there seems to be a local alternative to absolutely anything you re in the market to shop for. Since the global pandemic began nearly one full year ago, we here at 103.5 KISS FM have been working tirelessly to highlight local shops, restaurants, bars, and businesses that could use some foot traffic. Now, we re hope that YOU, a local small business owner or perhaps someone you know, is aware of the assistance available, as the deadline is creeping up.
