Tuesday, March 30, 2021 Patrick Burnett, who was appointed to the Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission last month, has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed against several of the commissioners as well as the mayor and his chief administrative assistant. Eureka Springs attorney Tim Parker confirmed Tuesday that he has filed a supplemental complaint adding Burnett as a defendant in the lawsuit. Parker filed the suit March 10 in Carroll County Circuit Court on behalf of CAPC finance director Rick Bright, group sales coordinator Karen Pryor, former interim executive director Gina Rambo, former special events coordinator Tracy Johnson and Greg Moon, whose removal from the commission is challenged in the complaint.

Tuesday, March 30, 2021 Caesar Lopez A Green Forest man is out on bail after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through eastern Carroll County on March 21, one which turned into a foot chase through a Berryville neighborhood. Caesar Augusto Lopez, 20, is facing a felony charge of fleeing in a vehicle in addition to a host of misdemeanor offenses, including fleeing on foot, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, purchase or possession by minor, driving left of center and failure to use a turn signal. According to a probable-cause affidavit filed in the case, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Sunday, March 21, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputy Anthony Scotti overheard a transmission from Green Forest police regarding a dark-colored crew-cab pickup that reportedly spun out near County Road 712 before accelerating at a high rate of speed headed westbound on Highway 62 toward Berryville.

Local News: Lawsuit names CAPC commissioners, Berry, Stryker (3/10/21)

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit are CAPC finance director Rick Bright, group sales coordinator Karen Pryor, former publicist Gina Rambo, former events coordinator Tracy Johnson and former commissioner Greg Moon. Defendants are Berry, Stryker, CAPC commissioners Jeff Carter, Carol Wright, James DeVito, Melissa Greene and Harry Meyer, the city of Eureka Springs, Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Company and State Auto Mutual Insurance Company. Both Greene and Meyer are members of the Eureka Springs City Council in addition to sitting on the CAPC. Bright, Rambo, Johnson and Moon are seeking compensatory damages of $1 million and punitive damages of $3 million each. Pryor is seeking compensatory damages of $250,000 and punitive damages of $500,000. All of the plaintiffs are also seeking reimbursement from the defendants for court costs and attorney’s fees and asking for trial by jury.
