Every year the Westminster Fire Department holds a memorial service to honor members of the department who died in the previous year. I think most fire departments do the same. These are individuals who made a difference in our community through their personal sacrifices to help provide a safety net for the community to raise our families, go about our business, and enjoy our quality of life in our community.
A Carrollton man is charged with assault following an altercation with a police officer.
According to the a report from the Carrollton Police Department, on February 11, an officer arrived at Wood Shed Lumber Company to speak to one of the owners in regards to her minor son operating a motor vehicle on the highway without a valid driver’s license. The mother of the child was unavailable at the time so the officer met with the father of the child, 45-year-old Cecil Eiserer. After reviewing the laws in regards to an unlicensed juvenile operating a motor vehicle on the highway, Eiserer began to argue with the officer. Eiserer allegedly ripped the paperwork out of the hand of the officer, crumbled them up into a large wad and threw the papers in the face of the officer. The papers hit the officer in the side of the face.
An Excelsior Springs woman is facing a felony after leading law enforcement on a high speed pursuit in December.
According to a probable cause statement, at approximately 11:52 p.m. on December 8, a Carrollton Police Officer attempted to stop a dark blue Nissan Altima with expired tags on Highway 65. When the officer activated her emergency lights, the vehicle quickly accelerated and continued southbound on Highway 65 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle reached speeds in excess of 100 mph while traveling southbound towards Marshall. During the pursuit, the vehicle struck the front passenger side of the officer’s vehicle while attempting to pass a Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy. The vehicle came to a stop on Highway 65, just south of Arrow Street, in Marshall, after being successfully spiked. The driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Mary Lynn Fagan was taken into custody.

A 49-year-old Holden man remains in custody following an incident in Carroll County in August.
The Carroll County Police Department reports it received a call, on August 31, that a truck had struck a fence and left the scene of the crash. A short time later, it was reported that the same truck had struck a Carrollton Fire Department vehicle that was parked on the sidewalk. When officers arrived, they noted the truck made a U-turn and struck a fire hydrant. The suspect vehicle then backed up, nearly hitting a patrol vehicle, and sped away, leading law-enforcement officers on a high-speed pursuit. During the chase, the suspect vehicle nearly struck an occupied SUV and cut off another vehicle at an intersection. The road became blocked by commercial vehicles, and the driver pulled the truck into a parking lot behind businesses on the north side of the square.
