Paul Flores attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and was the last person to see his classmate, Kristin Smart, alive.
On May 25, 1996, a man and a woman both Cal Poly students walked an intoxicated Kristin Smart toward her dorm, investigators said. They said Flores joined later and volunteered to get Smart the rest of the way home.
She s been missing for nearly 25 years.
Flores has long been described as a “prime suspect” in Smart s disappearance. On Tuesday, San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputies arrested him. His father, Ruben Flores, was also arrested.
In the past, Paul and Ruben Flores denied having any part in the 19-year-old woman s disappearance. However, in accounts to police, Paul Flores reportedly changed his story of what happened after friends of Smart left the two alone.
