2021 Hurricane Preparedness Week

BATON ROUGE, La. - The 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins June 1. Governor Edwards and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness urge everyone to Get a Game Plan. GOHSEP and partners with the National Weather Service will be sharing preparedness information you can use May 9-15.  “The 2020 hurricane season presented unique challenges we’ve never faced,” said Gov. Edwards. “While recovery continues from hurricanes Laura, Delta and Zeta, we must be ready for any tropical threat this season. Some forecasts indicate an above average season for tropical activity, but as our partners at the National Weather Service often say, it only takes one storm hitting our coast to make it a bad year. Evangeline Sheriff s Office receives mobile command camper from GOHSEP Evangeline Parish Sheriff s Office and last updated 2021-05-06 11:38:35-04 The Evangeline Parish Sheriff s Department has received a new mobile command post from the Governor s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. The Department says the donation of the 2020 Grey Wolf camper arrived on May 3. The 27-foot camper was retro fitted into a mobile command post and will be utilized for search and rescue, hostage situations, natural disasters and festivals. The mobile command post will be equipped with radios, laptop computers and gear that deputies need to use in the event of an emergency situation, the sheriff s office says.
