A day after the rout in West Bengal, BJP went hammer and tongs against Trinamool Congress, accusing it of sponsoring violence against BJP workers with the party announcing a nationwide dharna on May 5 and its chief J P Nadda going for a two-day visit to the state from May 4 to take stock of the situation. The BJP has announced a nationwide dharna on May 5 against the widespread violence unleashed by TMC workers post the election results in West Bengal. This protest will be held following all Covid protocols across all organisational mandals of the BJP, the party said.

New Delhi: After winning a bitter battle with the BJP to register its third consecutive victory in the West Bengal assembly elections, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has called a meeting with all the winning candidates at TMC Bhavan at 4 pm on Monday.
The TMC supremo is expected to meet Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar this evening to claim to form the next government in the state. Earlier, he gave this information through a tweet on Sunday night.
The Governor tweeted, “Congratulations to the @MamtaOfficial Party victory in the West Bengal Assembly Elections. Tomorrow at 7 pm, the Honorable CM will meet me at the Raj Bhavan.”

Kolkata: The Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday (May 3) had to summon the Director General of Police over the violation of law and order in the state by political party workers and supporters.
Incidents of violence are being reported in several districts in the state and the Governor of Bengal had to summon the DGP to review the situation and plan action to maintain law and order.
He posted on Twitter saying, “Have been constrained to urgently summon DGP @WBPolice in the wake alarming law and order in the State.”
