Love in the time of COVID: marriage licenses can be obtained via email in Siskiyou County
Siskiyou Daily News
While COVID-19 has caused most 2020 weddings to be rescheduled or become quick elopements, residents of Siskiyou County can still file for a marriage license despite the pandemic.
“Prior to the pandemic, we issued 17 licenses a month for marriages,” said County Clerk Laura Bynum, noting that the process has “definitely changed” due to the pandemic. Licences can now be issued through mail or email and then dropped in the county s official drop box once processed.
Bynum is offering lovebirds inability to appear since her office is closed. Generally inability to appear is reserved for those who cannot physically appear to sign and process documents due to incarceration or hospitalization.
