Conway said that he always supported the idea of body cameras, but hadn’t asked for money to implement them since being rebuffed from a pilot program in 2017. As of now, the sheriff said he has no projections for how much a body-camera program would cost or how many deputies it would take to run.

Covid update: 2 new deaths, hospital cases rise in Onondaga County Updated Apr 20, 2021; Posted Apr 20, 2021 Facebook Share Syracuse, N.Y. – Two men died of Covid-19 since Monday in Onondaga County and hospital cases have doubled since early April, county officials reported today. One man who died overnight was 64; the other was 89, County Executive Ryan McMahon said. They are the first county residents to die of the virus since April 8, nearly two weeks ago. The number of Covid-19 patients in Syracuse hospitals climbed to 62 today, double what it was April 1. Eleven patients are in intensive care. Hospital cases peaked in late December at more than 300. The numbers had fallen steadily since then but began to rise again this month.
