Syracuse, N.Y. – Two men died of Covid-19 since Monday in Onondaga County and hospital cases have doubled since early April, county officials reported today.
One man who died overnight was 64; the other was 89, County Executive Ryan McMahon said. They are the first county residents to die of the virus since April 8, nearly two weeks ago.
The number of Covid-19 patients in Syracuse hospitals climbed to 62 today, double what it was April 1. Eleven patients are in intensive care.
Hospital cases peaked in late December at more than 300. The numbers had fallen steadily since then but began to rise again this month.
