Onondaga County Covid-19 hospitalizations lowest since Dec. 1

At one point less than four weeks ago 336 people were hospitalized because of the coronavirus.
But that number has dropped steadily this month. Over the past week, the county’s hospitals had an average of 183 patients each day.
About 1 in 4 hospitalized patients are currently in intensive care.
Two more people died in the past day, County Executive Ryan McMahon reported. One was a 76-year-old man, the other a 91-year-old woman. Since the virus was confirmed here in March, 576 people have died, according to county data.
The number of cases confirmed on Friday was up slightly to 253.

Syracuse, N.Y. – State health officials are setting up Covid-19 vaccine clinics inside public housing facilities in New York City, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo said today that tactic will spread across the state.
“We bring the vaccine to the people,” Cuomo said of the effort to get more older people living in subsidized housing. “We’re going to do it all across the city, all across the state.”

Onondaga County residents remain frustrated over wait times for vaccines- and County Executive Ryan McMahon says there s no easy solution.
The county only received 900 vaccines for this week, and are likely set to get a similar amount next week. Appointments for those vaccinations were booked within an hour on Wednesday.
