Police officers were called at 4:44 p.m. Monday (April 19) to the intersection of Liberty Street and Stanton Road in Canton Township, they said.
Authorities said Jenna Shi, 17, and her father, Guangjie Shi, 50, both of Canton Township, got into an argument during which Guangjie Shi jumped on the hood of a moving car while his daughter tried to leave.
Jenna Shi was driving the car when her father was thrown from the vehicle, according to police. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials said.

DETROIT – The Detroit Police Department is averaging 60-100 concealed weapons arrests a week – and that’s a message to the community, the chief said Monday.
Officers are focused on arresting individuals who are illegally carrying concealed firearms, Detroit Police Chief James Craig told reporters during a news conference Monday morning that touched on two shooting incidents over the weekend. Craig also blamed the COVID-19 pandemic and court leniency for increased gun violence in the city.
Last week, DPD arrested 103 people for illegal carry, and seized their weapons, he said.

CANTON, MI – A dispute between family members has resulted in a 17-year-old girl facing criminal charges.
Jenna Shi has been charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm and reckless driving causing serious injury after she allegedly threw her father from the hood of a moving vehicle during an argument in Canton on Monday.
Guangjie Shi allegedly jumped on the hood of a vehicle as Jenna tried to drive away from the scene at Liberty Street and Stanton Road around 4:45 p.m.
Guangjie, 50, was rushed to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti for his injuries where he is reportedly unconscious, according to Fox 2 in Detroit.
A Canton Township teen faces two felony charges after local police say she threw her father from the car she was driving as a finale to their argument.
The 17-year-old was arraigned April 21 on felony counts of assault with intent to do great bodily and reckless driving causing serious impairment.
She’s scheduled to return to 35th District Court in Canton on April 30.
According to prosecutors, the teen and her father were arguing the afternoon of April 19 and their conflict escalated outside their home.
Her 50-year-old father jumped on the hood of his daughter’s moving vehicle when she tried to leave. He fell from the vehicle as she departed.
Michigan middle school science teacher charged with sexually assaulting student

INKSTER, MI – A former Inkster middle school science teacher has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault against a minor student, authorities announced today.
Ted Mark Anderson, 61, of Detroit, is charged with six counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, which involves penetration, of a female student from fall 2007 through 2010, according to a news release from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. The charge carries a penalty of up to life in prison.
The victim is now an adult, but her identity is not being released. She was in the sixth grade at Thomas Gist Academy in Inkster when the assaults began, the release said.
