FBI agent accused of sex crimes held without bail in Ascension Parish

An FBI agent from Prairieville has been held without bond at the Ascension Parish Jail near Donaldsonville on sexual misconduct charges.
David Harris, 51, is suspected in multiple crimes involving both children and adults since at least 2016. The U.S Department of Justice and the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit has been investigating.
Warrants have been issued in Orleans and East Baton Rouge parishes. He was booked in Ascension Parish on aggravated crimes against nature and indecent behavior with children under the age of 13.
Ascension Parish Jail records show Harris was booked June 24.

BASF awards $32,000 in scholarships to local high school students

BASF in Geismar awarded scholarships to 11 high school seniors in Louisiana, totaling $32,000, through the company’s local and corporate scholarship programs.
Eight scholarship recipients from high schools in Ascension Parish plan to pursue STEM-related degrees. Each student received a $1,000 scholarship to apply toward college tuition.
“These scholarships are part of BASF’s continued commitment to supporting a future of strong, diverse local talent by fostering an interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and related careers,” said Jerry Lebold, Senior Vice President and General Manager of BASF’s Geismar site. “Each of these students has demonstrated exceptional academic performance to successfully pursue a university degree in a STEM field.”

Under no circumstance whatsoever are threats and threats of violence or violence itself acceptable under any circumstance, Cointment said during the President s Report. This is Ascension Parish. We re better than that. Our people are better than that. I m asking the public, as we journey forward, if you see this type of activity, call it out. Put that fire out before it becomes something someone will regret later on.
