Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Marine Veteran Brian Meyer. Brian served in the Marines for 12 years and one day, while attempting to defuse an improvised bomb, it detonated. Brian lost most of his right leg, right hand and three fingers. Brian said, it’s not such a big deal, adding he was only in the hospital for 30 days. Still, beyond the physical scars, there are mental scars that needed to heal. Late in life, those scars are slowly healing thanks in part to hunting and the organization Wounded Warriors Outdoor. The non-profit, not to be confused with the Wounded Warrior Project was founded in 2008 and provides opportunities for wounded veterans to go hunting and fishing, all expenses paid. Meyer’s first outing with the group was a 2013 black bear hunt in Canada, he’s been hooked ever since. Thank yo
