The cluster involves students in a classroom at Collettsville School. It s important to note, a cluster is a minimum of five identified COVID-19 cases with a plausible link to one another. The Caldwell County Health Department did not indicate how many students tested positive for COVID-19.

RALEIGH — Governor Roy Cooper announced May 14 that all mandatory capacity and gathering limits, social distancing requirements and most mandatory mask requirements will be lifted effective immediately. Cooper said most indoor or outdoor settings in the state will no longer require people to wear a mask or be socially distant. “Because of our strong safety protocols, vaccines and the hard work of North Carolinians, we have been able to slow the spread of this virus and reduce deaths when other states saw surges in their cases,” Cooper said. “It’s good that our metrics are stable or declining.” Previous limits included indoor mass gathering limits of 100 people and outdoor mass gathering limited at 200 people.

A cluster is a minimum of five cases with illness onset or initial positive results within a 14-day period and a plausible epidemiological link. Any student and/or staff member identified as a close contact has been notified and subsequently, all recommended quarantine procedures will be followed.

COVID-19 in NC: Almost one-third of state completely vaccinated

RALEIGH — Approximately 30 percent of all adults age 18 and older have received both rounds of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to statistics from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The organization reports that more than 6.8 million total doses of vaccine have been administered in the state as of April 27, noting that of individuals 75 years of age and older 77.3 percent of the population has received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 72 percent have received their full allotment. Of individuals 18 and older, 38.1 percent of residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine requirement. More than 400,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in North Carolina over the past seven days.

Thursday Morning COVID-19 Update 36 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Wednesday (April 14) by Catawba County Public Health, lifting the total to 18,119. There were no new coronavirus-related deaths reported, leaving the total at 297. 18 people were hospitalized with COVID-19. 19% of Catawba County’s residents are fully vaccinated against the virus. Nine new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Alexander County, lifting the total to 4,255, with 85 deaths. Two COVID-19-related deaths were reported Wednesday in Caldwell County, raising the total to 144. 17 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed by the Caldwell County Health Department, increasing the total to 9,085. Hospitalizations fell to two. According to the Burke County COVID-19 dashboard, 13 new cases of the virus have been added in the last day, increasing the total to 9,859, with 150 deaths. Seven people were hospitalized.
