The Australian Ambassador to Greece, His Excellency, Arthur Spyrou, is a senior career officer with Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and has been serving as Australia’s Ambassador to Greece, Bulgaria and Romania since December 2019.
Prior to this he held various high profile roles, including a posting as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates just prior to this role. A career diplomat, he holds a Master of Arts (Foreign Affairs and Trade) from Monash University; Bachelor of Laws, Sydney University/Utrecht University; and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Sydney University. He spoke of his experience and goals in his role.
Greece is ready to show its best at Germany’s ITB Berlin travel and tourism expo that will take place online this year during March 9-12.
One of the world’s leading travel trade shows, ITB Berlin is taking place this year as an entirely virtual event as the situation surrounding the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic still remains difficult, particularly for the travel and tourism industry.

Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis is scheduled to give a press conference on the first day of the virtual event.
The press conference titled
“Return to Greece: The journey to revive a unique experience has just begun” will take place on Tuesday afternoon and Minister Theoharis is expected to reveal details regarding the opening of Greek tourism this year.

Reservations are close to zero at the moment due to the ongoing coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, as well as the measures undertaken in Italy and the international travel restrictions.

Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) are joining forces to promote Greece to the international market and drive recovery for the tourism sector.
“The ‘next day’ for the tourism industry will have two main protagonists: quality and digital innovation,” the chamber’s president,
Alexandros Vasilikos, said on Wednesday, following a meeting with GNTO’s secretary general, Dimitris Fragakis.
The partnership between the GNTO and the hotel chamber will take off from Germany’s
ITB Berlin 2021 international trade show, which this year will be held in a virtual environment during March 9-12.
“We wish to focus on the different, special identity of the Greek tourism product and ITB Berlin – one of the largest international exhibitions for tourism – will be a great opportunity for this,” Fragakis said.
