Grayson County will no longer be holding COVID-19 shot clinics at the old Sherman High School as it attempts moves away from the crisis management part of its vaccination duties with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beginning June 1, there will no longer be shots given at the old Sherman High School. COVID-19 vaccinations will be offered on Tuesdays at the Health Department from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on a walk in basis. We have done our part, said Grayson County Judge Bill Magers during Tuesday s meeting of the Grayson County Commissioners. When the vaccines were in short supply and the distribution chains were limited to take the lead and make sure that Grayson County residents had a reliable source of vaccinations. There are now other opportunities out there for folks to get vaccinations. The private sector is doing their part and so we are going to move away from mass vaccinations to just putting it into our Health Department wellness services like we would

Grayson County hit a new COVID-19 milestone Thursday. The county reported no new cases of COVID-19 that day.
The county s COVID-19 active case count on Thursday was 15. There are still people being tested of course, Grayson County Health Department Director Amanda Ortez said Thursday. But they are all coming back as negative at this juncture. They re negative but they are still making sure to do their due diligence if they have any kind of symptoms that s associated with COVID-19 that they are going to get tested. But today is one of the first days in over a year that we have had zero positive cases.

Grayson County reported only one new case of COVID-19 on Tuesday. That brought the county s active caseload to 18.
Since the pandemic began 11,285 cases have been confirmed in the county.
A report from Grayson County Health Department and Office of Emergency Management provided the following statistics:
Vaccine doses administered: 64,817.
People vaccinated with at least one dose: 31,112.
People fully vaccinated: 31,025.
Percentage of Population 16 years old or older with at least one dose:36.15%.
Percentage of Population 16 years old or older that are fully vaccinated: 28.70%.
Grayson County Population 65 and older: 24,182.
Grayson County Population 16-64 with a medical condition: 40,586.
Grayson County Population 16 and older: 107,521.

Grayson County reported one new COVID-19 related death Tuesday evening bringing the total of such deaths in county residents to 364. Because of the way that the state has handled death certificates during the pandemic, the Herald Democrat has no other information about that county resident s death.
In addition, the county seven new cases Tuesday which brought the county s total active cases to 25.
Since the pandemic began 11,271 cases have been confirmed in the county.

People vaccinated with at least one dose: 39,603.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 11,260 test confirmed cases of the virus in the county and 363 Grayson Count people have been reported to have suffered COVID-19 related deaths.
There have been 105,018 tests performed for the virus in the county.
The data from the state regarding vaccines administered is often delayed by a week or more.
Grayson County had only four new cases of test confirmed COVID-19 on Friday. That brought the county s total active cases to 23.
