Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan traded accusations over the worst clashes between the two ex-Soviet central Asian neighbours in decades that left at least 20 people dead, about 150 injured and 10,000 displaced over a water dispute.
The clashes started on Wednesday with gunfire between the Kyrgyz-Tajik troops on the border for most of the day.
The dispute occurred around a water supply facility near the village of Kok-Tash, in Batken region of Kyrgyzstan after a CCTV camera was installed on the power line poles by the Tajikistan troops. The Kyrgyz side tried to hack it down, prompting clashes.

Kyrgyz Border Service says Tajik side deliberately provoked border conflict
AKIPRESS.COM - The Border Service of the State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan said the Tajik side deliberately provoked the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border on April 28 and continues escalating tension. The water distributor Golovnoi is the strategic facility of Kyrgyzstan and it lies on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz Security Committee said after the Tajik Security Committee accused Kyrgyzstan of attempted illegal takeover of the distributor.
The facility was built by Kyrgyzstan, it added. Deliberately distorting historic facts, the Border Troops of the State National Security Committee of Tajikistan push civilians for bloodshed and this way demonstrate their inability and unwillingness to address issues peacefully, the statement said.
