How a charming and stubborn downtown Rochester house makes a big difference
The small downtown property was transformed into affordable housing for Mayo Clinic patients by Christ United Methodist Church. 6:30 am, Apr. 26, 2021 ×
Christ United Methodist Church formally purchased the house at 419 Fifth St. SW in 2005, but it has a long history of being used for church activities. Now, the top half serves as a long-term rental, and the bottom half (called the Wesley House) provides discounted housing mainly for Mayo patients. Photo taken April 20, 2021. Tucked into the southeast corner of the Christ United Methodist Church, surrounded by parking lots and apartments, there’s an unassuming, pale yellow house. The wonderfully stubborn fixture has stood proudly since 1938 as construction projects crept up around it.
