Christian County Health Director Kayla Bebout Announces Resignation

The Christian County Board of Health has selected an interim director after Public Health Director Kayla Bebout announced Monday afternoon she is stepping down from the position next month. The announcement came after the board went into to closed session to discuss personnel. Bebout became emotional when she announced she is resigning, effective July 16 th, citing she is taking a break and will explore another profession in healthcare. She went on to say she is grateful for the opportunity to serve in Christian County and she has full confidence the board will select the best candidate for the position to continue the health department’s success in the county.

The Christian County Board of Health approved the health department’s 2021-22 budget during Monday evening’s meeting. After over an hour of discussion on the budget, the board approved one that includes a three-percent raise and a possible two-percent lump sum bonus for staff members who receive a highly commendable on their annual staff evaluation. Employees who receive a proficient and commendable on their evaluation would get a one-percent lump-sum bonus. The original plan brought to the board included a five-percent raise for staff members. A majority of the discussion concerning the budget involved the raises for staff, which health department director Kayla Bebout said were carefully considered before being brought to the board.
