Sport Auto took a Taycan Turbo not the top-of-the-range Turbo S, mind you to the Hockenheim Formula 1 circuit recently to see just how well it could stack up against its ICE-powered competitors. Despite the massive weight penalty from its floor-mounted battery pack, it s able to see a lap time of 1:54.1 around the famous track. Comparing that with other lap times set by the publication, the Taycan Turbo is half a second quicker than the mighty supercharged Shelby, and a tenth in front of the brutally quick M5.
It s also worth noting just how fun the lap looked from behind the wheel. Driver Christian Gebhardt is able to slide out of corners and really commit through faster bends. It s worth a watch if you still doubt whether the Taycan is a real Porsche.
After it was set loose at the Hockenheim-GP circuit last month with SportAuto’s Christian Gebhardt at the wheel, the 2021 BMW M5 CS was recently taken to the Lausitzring for another fast lap.
The YouTube channel now put Guido Naumann in the driver’s seat, and he managed to complete the course in 1:31.88, around one and a half seconds faster than the M5 Competition.
According to FastestLaps, the new M5 CS was faster than the Porsche 911 (991) GT3, Audi R8 V10 Performance and Jaguar XE SV Project 8, which posted a 1:32.00, 1:32.11 and 1:32.15 respectively. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S was clocked at 1:32.32 and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and BMW M8 Gran Coupe Competition crossed the finish line in 1:32.76 and 1:32.96.
Watch Alpina B3 Lap The Nurburgring In 7:53 Minutes ++ Honestly, we were hoping for more.
The latest generation of the Alpina B3 arrived with a storm at the Tokyo Auto Show in October 2019 bringing a heavily reworked 3.0-liter engine and a sporty appearance. The performance sedan’s main goal is to bridge the gap between the M340i xDrive and the M3 Competition.
We know the cars Alpina makes are fast, very fast.
Sport Auto wanted to find out exactly how fast the new B3 is and took the sedan to the Nurburgring for a quick lap. With test driver Christian Gebhardt behind the wheel and riding on Pirelli P Zero ALP tires, the B3 registered a time of 7:53.26 minutes. Not terrible, not great.
