The super executive sedan was set loose between the apexes of the (in)famous German racetrack against the clock, with the sole purpose of proving its mettle. Riding on 275/35R20 front and 285/35R20 rear Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, it was driven across the finish line by SportAuto’s Christian Gebhardt in 7:29.57.
Petrol heads know that the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is the undisputed king of the circuit, having lapped it in 6:43.62. After it was set loose at the Hockenheim-GP circuit last month with SportAuto’s Christian Gebhardt at the wheel, the 2021 BMW M5 CS was recently taken to the Lausitzring for another fast lap.
The YouTube channel now put Guido Naumann in the driver’s seat, and he managed to complete the course in 1:31.88, around one and a half seconds faster than the M5 Competition.
According to FastestLaps, the new M5 CS was faster than the Porsche 911 (991) GT3, Audi R8 V10 Performance and Jaguar XE SV Project 8, which posted a 1:32.00, 1:32.11 and 1:32.15 respectively. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S was clocked at 1:32.32 and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and BMW M8 Gran Coupe Competition crossed the finish line in 1:32.76 and 1:32.96.
